Week 2 SDX placement

10th Feb- today I went to the Tron Kirk, one of the other location in Edinburgh that SDX works with. I talked with st-mango who was kind enough to tell me more about how to work with polymer clay. One key thing that was mentioned was how to get perfectly round balls when working with polymer clay. She described a 2 part tool that was each a rectangle with a dip cut in the middle from on end to another. Place the polymer clay in-between the two parts, rolling the two parts back and forward to get a ball shape more consistently. This is a technique I’ll definitely use to get a more consistent product across a bigger batch.

It was nice to hear how St-mango’s business came to be, I found their story rather inspiring and their branding really eye catching. To note that they said for their packaging they try to include some short words to say what the product is alongside simple visual cues. Trying to remain fun and playful will quickly conveying the story of the project without over complicating it.
